SEO, AEO and GEO: What Businesses Should Understand

SEO supports discovery in search results. AEO emphasizes useful answers to buyer questions. GEO considers how a brand is represented and referenced in generated responses. These activities overlap and depend on accessible, reliable source information.

Start with content a buyer can use

A service page should explain what the service does, who it suits, what it costs and where its limits are. A comparison or guide should answer a real decision rather than repeat a slogan with more keywords.

Google’s guidance says established SEO practices apply to AI Overviews and AI Mode. Useful text, internal links and accessible pages support discovery; there is no special markup required for those features.

Public access is a prerequisite

A private review site cannot be evaluated as though public crawlers can read every page. Public access, hosting permissions and crawler rules must be checked before expecting discovery.

OpenAI’s publisher guidance says public websites can appear in ChatGPT search and advises allowing OAI-SearchBot for summaries and snippets. Access does not guarantee that a particular page will be cited.

Use structured data for accurate descriptions

Structured data can describe the organization, service, breadcrumb trail or visible questions. It should match what a visitor can read. Fake reviews, invented results or misleading pricing do not become reliable because they appear in markup.

Google says there is no special schema required for AI features. A sitemap and clear navigation help explain the site structure; they do not create a ranking guarantee.

Measure the claim you are making

An answer can mention a brand without citing its website. A citation can exist without generating a visit. A visit can occur without becoming an inquiry. Keep those observations separate in reporting.

Record the prompt set, engines, dates and conditions of repeated checks. Where analytics and search tools are connected, examine referral activity and customer inquiries alongside observed mentions. Avoid treating a single response as a permanent position.

What the MkOS starting offer covers

AI Visibility starts at $2,500 setup and $2,000 monthly for one brand, up to 25 tracked prompts across three answer engines, competitive review and four updates to existing content.

New article production, digital PR and broad technical redevelopment are separate scopes. The goal is useful information and accountable observation, with no guaranteed ranking or AI placement.
